Do I need to verify my degree or professional qualification?

If a qualification is declared to earn COMPASS points, MOM requires verification proof from a background screening company on its list, or a screenshot from an accepted awarding-institution portal such as ACCA or ISCA. Certificates alone are not accepted.

You can appeal within three months. An appeal only succeeds if something material changes or was missed, so we review the rejection reasons first and tell you plainly whether an appeal is worth filing.

Questions employers ask us

How long does an Employment Pass application take?

Most online EP applications are processed by MOM within 10 business days once submitted. Applications that need verification proof, or where the company's profile at MOM is incomplete, take longer. We pre-check both before filing.

Can a company director apply for their own Employment Pass?

Yes. A director or shareholder of a Singapore private limited company can be sponsored by that company. It's assessed on the same COMPASS criteria, and the company's turnover and profile must be up to date with MOM before the application will even open.

What is COMPASS and how many points do I need?

COMPASS is MOM's points framework for new EP applications. You need 40 points across four criteria: salary, qualifications, workforce diversity and support for local employment. Firms with fewer than 25 employees receive default points on the last two, so salary and qualifications carry the application.

Do I need to verify the candidate's degree (bachelor's, master's)?

Only if it's declared to earn COMPASS points, which most applications need. Then MOM won't accept the certificate alone; it wants independent proof, and what that means depends on where the degree is from:

India: a verification report from a screening company on MOM's panel, which we arrange on your behalf before we file. Needs the degree certificate and full mark sheets/transcripts; the university must be on MOM's recognised list. Allow 2 to 4 weeks.
China: a screenshot from the government CHSI (degrees) or CDGDC portal; no screening company needed.
Malaysia, UK, Europe, Australia, US, Philippines and most others: screening-company report, 1 to 3 weeks, arranged by us. Some awarding bodies have accepted online registers (ACCA, ISCA, CPA Australia and others on MOM's list) where a screenshot is enough.
Master's without a bachelor's declared: verify the master's; only the qualification declared for points needs proof.
Top-tier universities on MOM's list earn 20 points instead of 10; verification is the same.
